Introduction
This Cookie Notice explains how Torch uses cookies and similar tracking technologies when you visit or use our Services. We encourage you to read the full Cookie Notice to understand how we use cookies and your related choices. We will generally refer to cookies, web beacons, and other tracking technologies collectively as “cookies” in this notice.
To make it simple, we use the same terms as defined in our Privacy Notice and Terms of Use. Any new terms will be defined below. This Cookie Notice should be read together with our Privacy Notice and our Terms of Use.
Effective Date
This Notice is effective as of the “Last Updated and Effective Date” above and will remain in effect except with respect to any provisions that are changed in the future. Torch may make changes to this Notice from time to time and will notify you by posting a revised version on this Site. Changes, modifications, additions, or deletions will be effective immediately upon their posting to the Site or upon you being otherwise notified. You are expected to check this page regularly so you are aware of any changes, as they are binding on you. Your continued use of the Services following the posting of a revised Notice means that you accept and agree to the changes. We will also revise the date found at the beginning of this Notice when we post changes to it.
What are Cookies?
A cookie is a text file containing small amounts of information sent by a web server and placed on your computer. There are two types of cookies: session cookies and persistent cookies. A session cookie lasts while your browser is open and is automatically deleted when you close your browser. A persistent cookie lasts until you or your browser deletes the cookies, or they expire.
Like many websites, our Site uses first- (made by us) and third-party (made by tools we use) cookies. Both first-party and third-party cookies can serve a number of different functions, such as analytics, marketing and advertising.
How We Use Cookies
Like most online services, Torch uses cookies in order to do things like help us improve our Services and understand how you engage with web content and emails we send. You can find out more about the cookies we use in the table below.
We do not use marketing cookies. Although we use the services of third parties in connection with these cookies, these service providers are under a contract with us to only use the Personal Information collected in accordance with our instructions. We do not allow our services providers to collect Personal Information about your online activities over time or across websites for their own purposes.
Cookies We Use
Torch uses the following cookies:
Third-Party Cookies: We have permitted the following third parties to serve cookies from our Site:
- Themis Solutions Inc. dba Clio. Clio is our law practice management software. We use it to collect contact details from visitors of our Site who would like to hear from us.
- Host Gator. Host Gator is our web hosting platform, and we also use it to generate anonymous usage analytics.
Your Cookie Choices
You have a number of options to control or limit how Torch uses cookies. Please note, if you choose to disable or opt-out of certain cookies, you may experience some loss of function or availability throughout our Site.
Our Cookie Management Tool: We present users of the Site, including you, with a notice of how cookies are being used on this Site (a “cookie banner”) upon the first visit. The Site is set to only load essential cookies and scripts by default, and the cookie banner prompts users to provide or decline to provide consent for functional and analytical cookies.
Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track Signals: Our Site is designed to respond to Global Privacy Control signals, and you may set your browser to refuse all cookies or to allow your browser to alert you when a cookie is set. However, certain parts of the Site may function differently and not as well if enabled. Please note that you need to configure each browser on each device that you use if you wish to opt-out or block some or all cookies. For more information about how to manage your cookies preferences, you should use the “help” menu or explore the customer support sections of your web browser.
“Do Not Track” signals are similar in function to Global Privacy Control in that they make options available on your browser to tell operators of websites that you do not wish to have your online activity tracked. However, this technology has not been universally adopted and functionality across the internet is inconsistent. Therefore, our websites operate no differently if these “Do Not Track” signals are enabled or disabled.
